Surface Pro Mini Display To Hdmi

In that location was a video driver update yesterday for the Fall Creator'south Edition - if you lot are running the FCU can y'all check Windows Update and verify you are up to date?

If FCU and above does non assistance or if you are even so on 1703 - were both cables you lot tried ACTIVE versus passive cables? Can yous provide links to the non Microsoft cable you tried? I've seen a slew of complaints well-nigh this recently. Until Microsoft addresses the issue (assuming they do) you might want to endeavour an active
cable like

  • Surface Dock
  • ii x 4K monitors connected to dock via display port
  • Windows x Pro 1709
  • Intel HD Graphics 620 Driver 22.20.16.4749

Worked perfectly fine up until yesterday but now when I plug in the dock all screens go black and organisation is completely unresponsive.

  • Disconnecting dock does not work
  • Win-Ctrl-Shift-B does not work

Only manner to get the system working again is a a hard restart - (power button pressed for 10 -fifteen seconds).

Hi Barb,

I have washed some troubleshooting and here are the results

Rollback to 21.20.16.4636 of Display driver seems to fix the issue.

Prior to that I tired a few dissimilar scenarios to see if I could

  • Single external screen is okay
  • Dual External Screens will cause the problem.
  • Screens work fine if yous boot without dock and them plug in dock connector.
  • Result occurs when screens waking from being turned off (ie. Nether Power and Sleep, Screen, When plugged, in turn off afterward)

Hopefully this helps.

Let me know if you need whatever more than info.

Hi,

I'm having the aforementioned consequence with my Surface Pro 2017 since fall creators update, only only with one of my devices (Panasonic TV) via HDMI. TV just flickers, sometimes displaying a flickering still epitome of the last TV program that was on before switching to HDMI.

Rollback to previous driver version (21.xx.16.4636) fixes the trouble.

Thanks

EastWan

Microsoft is request folks with this issue:

How are the monitors plugged into the dock?  Are they both plugged into a port on the dock, or is one plugged into the dock and the 2 nd is daisy chained and plugged into the i st monitor?

  1. What brand, model, and hardware revision monitors (wait on the stickers on back of monitor)?
  2. What is the exact cabling connecting the dock to the monitor?  Please exist specific if any adapters(make/model of adapter or link to adapter on Amazon) are involved and what the port types are on each end of each cable and adapter?
  3. Does information technology piece of work with i monitor plugged into the dock?
  4. Does it piece of work with 1 monitor plugged into the side of the Surface Pro?
  5. Do the monitors have an input setting for Auto?  If yes, please set it to whatever connector is on the end of the cable and see if that changes anything.
  6. Do the monitors accept a MST, DP , or Displayport setting for Primary/Secondary or DP ane.1/ane.2 or DP 1.2 on/off?  With both monitors plugged into the two ports on the dock, you should set the monitors to secondary or DP ane.ane or DP 1.ii off.

Hi Barb,

I'grand not using a dock, in my instance it'due south a TV and its plugged directly into the Surface Pro.

  1. The TV that'due south causing problems with the new commuter is a Panasonic TX-P 42 Grand 15 E (bought in 2009). On the other hand, my Samsung SyncMaster 213T (bought in 2005) does not accept any problems. (Neither did the Goggle box before the FCU.)
  2. For the TV, I've e'er used a rather inexpensive HDMI<=>HDMI cable coupled with a likewise inexpensive Mini DisplayPort => HDMI adapter bough on ebay. That cable is some years old, but used to transmit audio and video without bug. However, since I commencement thought it was the cable, I bought a new one two days agone. This is a straight Mini DisplayPort => HDMI cable, once more from ebay, though non the cheapest one: https://www.ebay.de/itm/222248855581
For the connection to the monitor (which works even with the new FCU commuter) I'm using an even more adventurous ready-upward: MiniDisplayPort => HDMI adapter, coupled to a HDMI => DVI adapter, coupled to a DVI <=> DVI cable, which connects to the monitor. No problems in that scenario.
=> So I'one thousand pretty sure it's not the cables!
  3. I'm not using a dock.
  4. I've never tried multiple monitors at the same fourth dimension. Please see point 2) - before FCU both Goggle box and monitor worked fine, after FCU but the monitor continues to piece of work, Tv set displays a flickery still movie of the final Television set programme before switching to HDMI. If yous weren't on Boob tube before switching to HDMI you volition get a blackness screen with a minor bar of "digital white noise" on top. => Interesting to note, though, that the TV detects the 1080p input correctly!
  5. The monitor that works does. For the TV y'all take to select the input channel manually. So this is not the problem. As I said, it fifty-fifty detects the 1080p input correctly.
  6. I've checked and actually there isn't *anything* that I can change in the menu with regards to the HDMI input. I suppose it's just supposed to "plug & play".

Promise this helps!

My outcome still exists.

It already existed prior to FCU and yet exists afterward.

Rollback of commuter does non solve event either.

Adapter IS active type (Microsoft model 1553)

Mini Displayport is not at mistake: works fine with VGA adapter.

I also utilize a dock at a unlike location. Same adapter. No problem.

As previously reported: tried different adapters, HDMI cables and even another monitor. No cigar.
